Nice Bosses Do Not Finish Last

Do you picture yourself as a tough, nose-to-the-grindstone operator who wants to get the most from your workers? Do other people think you’re a stubborn jerk because of your tough results-oriented approach?
Here are a few things you may want to consider in order to get the best from your people, while creating a great image for your company.
1. If you don't have a water cooler, install one and let people have conversations around it. They need an opportunity to discuss the work or blow off steam without being watched.
2. Encourage community service. It's good for your company image, and it also gives valuable experience on how to improve people's lives, including customer's lives, co-worker's lives, and your own life.
3. Recognize good tries. If people tried to do something in a new and different way and it didn't work out, say you're glad they gave it a shot. Say it in front of others so they know they can experiment without fear of failure.
4. Set the culture tone for your company. Let everyone from HR to the ground floor know that you value people, say the experts at INC. Don’t be a bullyDon't shout, pound on the desk or make anyone cringe at loud criticism. When a mistake is made, focus on the system or any other factor that played a part in it. Ask the employees involved for ideas on how to prevent it in the future. Accusations do not solve problems, cooperation does.
You're working on building a relationships, not just a sale or to get someone to do something for you.
Good luck.
