Detent (spring loaded) pins have springs inside the shaft of the pin that are used the push out two extruding ball bearings. These ball bearings, when extruding lock into a hole in the pin they are being used with. These pins simply require a pull to release them, but lock firmly in place when inserted in to the locked position.

Double action pins are very simple to use. To insert the pins and get it to firmly lock into place just push in on the handle. To remove the pins, simply pull on the handle. The pins come in a variety of handle types including T-handles, L-handles, and ring handles.

Push button pins work much in the same way that other pins do with one major difference. Instead of simply pulling on the pin to release it, push button pins require you to physically push a button for the pin to be released.
