Brief History

Reid Supply Company, founded in 1948 and still based in Muskegon, Michigan, on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, is a global industrial products distributor.

As an office manager and purchasing agent in a local tool and die shop, Mr. Liberty Reid realized there were numerous tools and parts that he could not obtain in a timely manner. This discovery inspired him to start Reid Tool Supply at his home in, with the help of his wife, Gloria.

Mr. Reid's vision, back in 1948, was to stock those hard-to-get tools and parts in inventory for immediate delivery. He lined up suppliers and published a 16-page catalog, which was mailed to 5,000 machine shops in the Midwest.

From the very beginning, Reid Tool Supply focused on great Customer service by providing hard-to-find products on a timely basis.

By 1952, the business had long outgrown the Reid's house and moved into a newly constructed 40' x 40' warehouse/office. Over the years, the company acquired several more facilities to accommodate its growing business.

Throughout the years, Reid Tool Supply established and acquired several more businesses as opportunity presented itself. Along with Reid Tool Supply, these additional businesses would become the core of Reid Entities. In 2005, Reid Tool Supply changed its name to Reid Supply Company to reflect its expanded offerings and wider industrial supply focus.

Today, Reid Supply Company (formerly Reid Tool), serves its Customers' needs in all 50 states and 40 countries. Many of our Customers seriously consider us a partner in helping their business grow by stocking the items they need. They consider us their lean supplier.
