Digital indicators are precision instruments that can measure small distances between two surfaces with extreme accuracy. Measurements are shown on an LCD display. Features include absolute encoder, preset, zero-set, inch/metric conversions, reverse reading, SPC output, and GO/NOGO functions. Also known as test indicators, digital indicators are frequently used to measure machinery calibrations and equipment tolerances.

Dial indicators are capable of measuring small distances between two surfaces that a standard gauge cannot reach. These precision instruments translate the small linear distance into rotational movement and display the measurement on a continuous dial numbered clockwise around the face. Vernier calipers are unique in that they feature a main scale on the beam and a sliding vernier scale on the movable jaw to deliver precise measurements of outside dimensions, inside dimensions, and depths.

Slide ruler calipers take precise inside and outside measurements with a moveable jaw that travels along the ruler.
