Thread Inserts

 (8 product groups)

Thread inserts are used to replace damaged inserts, repair threaded holes that have been stripped, or create a new join. We offer several types suited for use on metal, wood, and plastic. Whereas the coil tension on helical thread inserts securely hold the insert in place, keylocking thread inserts have locking keys that are driven down to lock the insert in place. Self-locking thread inserts have adhesive on both the external and internal threads to secure the insert in place and to prevent fasteners from backing out of the insert. Knife thread inserts, which are designed for use on hardwoods, have an external thread that slices into the wood and provides superior holding power. Press-fit thread inserts are designed to replace molded-in inserts and threads in plastic castings. We also stock rivet-nut thread inserts, self-tapping thread inserts, and hex-drive thread inserts.

Helical Thread Inserts

Quickly and permanently restore stripped, worn and damaged threads in any material. Coil tension securely holds the insert in place without undue tension on the surrounding material. They are vibration and impact resistant and will not strip or seize. All inserts are made from 18-8 stainless with a hardness of RC 43-50 and tensile strength above 200,000 psi.Screw-locking inserts have a series of straight segments to provide self-locking torque on the bolt, eliminating the need for other thread locking devices.

Hex Drive Thread Inserts

Hex drive thread inserts create sturdy machine threads in soft woods. The are designed for applications where frequent assembly or disassembly could lead to thread erosion or stripping.

Keylocking Thread Inserts

Quickly repair stripped, damaged or worn out threads with a new stronger thread using keylocking inserts. Keylocking inserts are easily installed using standard drills and taps. Once the locking keys are driven down, the insert is tightly locked and will not turn. Steel inserts are C1215, parkerized. Stainless inserts are 303, passivated.
